Originally, we all had brown eyes but a genetic mutation affecting the
OCA2 gene in our chromosomes resulted in the creation of a "switch"
which literally turned off the ability to produce brown eyes. This
explains why some people may have blue eyes. They had a genetic deficiency
of the OCA2 gene codes for the so-called P protein which is involved in
the production of melanin, the pigment which gives color to the hair,
eyes and skin.
The evidence of black, brown or red hair, eyebrows and eyes is evidence
of pigmentation and melanin production. Skin color, or the lack thereof,
is only one factor.
As far as another post concerning "darkness" is concerned, when one is
in "darkness" that is to say in the state of "sleep", this actually
stimulates melanin production. Lack of sleep results in the opposite
effect and hinders the functionality of the thyroid and pineal glands,
along with the pituitary.
